We thank our judge Larry Witherspoon for judging the 24 entries. He has sent special comments for you:
This was my first judging of a variety of topics: Subject-Any, Form- Free Verse, with a line limit of 20 lines. This made me think harder with deeper thoughts and their meanings. It caused me to respect our poets more, and for me, opened my eyes to a world out there even more than ever.
I will repeat what I have said often, ‘There is a poem in that,’ meaning anything, any place, any person, any word, anything that happens good or sad, there is a poem in that.
I want to thank everyone for allowing me to be a judge, for trusting me with your thoughts.

Judge: Stacy Pendergrast
- Dear Poet Friends,Unfortunately, the “McDougall Moment” contest yielded no winners this year. Being a teacher, I recognize this: When I don’t get the response or product I envisioned, it must be due to my lack of communication and clarity. Mea culpa. I will be revising the guidelines for this contest, and I hope to sponsor it again next year. By then, I hope to have written an article that will more clearly illuminate Jo’s style that has earned the description of a “McDougall Moment.”Sincerely,Stacy Pendergrast
